Aim
1. How is a persuasive essay organized?

Launch: Looking at our brainstorming from yesterday, what information should we include in an introduction? (In other words, what do we want to make sure our reader knows about the topic before we start arguing our point?)

Agenda
1. Discuss launch.
2. Develop outline for essay.
3. Begin writing class persuasive essay.

Homework: Independent reading.

English 4

Aim
1. How does Shakespeare use the opening scene of Hamlet to set up the rest of the play?

Launch: Read the first ten lines of Hamlet. Who are the characters? What can you figure out about the setting from these lines? What words or phrases don't you understand?

Agenda
1. Discuss launch.
2. Read and discuss the first half of Act 1, scene 1 (1.1).
3. Set up scene.

Homework: Independent reading.

Launch: What do you think the AP exam readers are looking for on your essays?
